Getting there

From Chivay, drive towards the Colca Canyon. Follow the signs for Cabanaconde. Upon reaching Cabanaconde, you will need to continue to the trailhead at Sangalle. The journey from Chivay to Cabanaconde takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Once in Cabanaconde, park your car and begin your trek down into the canyon towards Sangalle. The trail is steep, so ensure you have proper hiking gear. The hike typically takes around 2-3 hours.

Public Transportation

Take a bus or shared taxi from Chivay to Cabanaconde. The bus ride takes about 1.5 hours and costs roughly 15-20 soles. Once in Cabanaconde, you will need to hike to Sangalle. The trailhead is well-marked. The hike down to Sangalle will take you around 2-3 hours. Make sure to carry water and snacks for the hike.

Hiking

After reaching Cabanaconde either by car or public transport, begin your trek down the trail leading to Sangalle. The descent can be quite steep and challenging, so take your time and enjoy the stunning views along the way. The path is well-trodden, but be cautious of loose rocks. Allow yourself 2-3 hours to reach Sangalle. It's advisable to start early in the morning to avoid hiking in the heat.
