Getting There

    From the main entrance of Machu Picchu, head towards the main plaza. Once you reach the plaza, look for the sign that indicates the trail to Inti Punku, also known as the Sun Gate. The trail is well-marked and begins to ascend immediately. Follow the path which is approximately 1.5 km (0.9 miles) uphill. The hike should take about 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on your pace. As you walk, you will enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and the valley below. Keep following the trail, and you will eventually reach the Sun Gate, where you can enjoy stunning views of Machu Picchu.

    Alternatively, if you are near the Inca Trail checkpoint, you can start your hike from there. The trail to the Sun Gate is the same. Ascend the path, and enjoy the scenic views as you approach the Sun Gate. This route is also well-marked and takes about 30 minutes to reach the Sun Gate from this starting point.
