Getting there

Car

If you're traveling by car, the most common route to Mount Apo is to start from Davao City. Head south on the Davao-Batangas Highway (also known as the Diversion Road). Continue straight until you reach the town of Sta. Cruz. Follow the signs indicating Mount Apo. The journey will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. Once you arrive at Sta. Cruz, you can park at designated areas near the trailheads.

Public Transportation (Bus)

From Davao City, you can take a bus to Sta. Cruz. Buses to Sta. Cruz leave from the Ecoland Transport Terminal. The fare is approximately PHP 100-150 and the trip will take about 2 hours. Once you arrive in Sta. Cruz, you can hire a local tricycle or jeepney to take you to the nearest trailhead, which will cost around PHP 50-100 depending on your exact destination.

Hiking

After reaching the trailhead, prepare for a hike. There are several trails to choose from, with the most popular being the Kidapawan Trail and the Lake Apo Trail. Ensure that you have the necessary permits and guides, which can be arranged in Sta. Cruz or Kidapawan City. Permits usually cost around PHP 500. It’s advisable to start your hike early in the morning to avoid the heat and to enjoy the stunning scenery.
