Travel Guide to Mayon Volcano

Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving to Mayon Volcano, start from Legazpi City, which is approximately 13 kilometers away. Head south on the Maharlika Highway (AH26). Watch for signs pointing towards Mayon Volcano. As you approach, you will see the stunning view of the volcano. There are parking areas available near the visitor center where you can safely leave your car. Ensure you have a valid parking ticket, which usually costs around PHP 20.

• Public Transportation - Jeepney

  From Legazpi City, you can take a jeepney heading towards Daraga. Get off at the Daraga Church, which is a well-known landmark. From here, catch another jeepney that goes directly to the Mayon Volcano Natural Park. The fare for the jeepney ride may vary but is typically around PHP 15-20. Upon arrival at the park entrance, you may need to pay an entrance fee of approximately PHP 50.

• Public Transportation - Van

  Another option is to take a van from Legazpi City to Daraga. Vans are usually faster than jeepneys and depart from the Van Terminal near the city center. Once you arrive in Daraga, transfer to a local jeepney heading to Mayon Volcano. The total cost for the van ride is around PHP 50, while the jeepney costs an additional PHP 15-20.

• Hiking

  If you are feeling adventurous and are already at the Mayon Volcano Natural Park, there are established hiking trails leading to various viewpoints. Make sure to register at the visitor center before starting your hike. Guided tours are available for a fee of around PHP 1,500, which includes a local guide who will ensure your safety and provide insights about the volcano.
