If you are traveling by car, head towards Ponta Delgada. From the main road (ER1), take the exit towards Ponta Delgada. Once you enter the city, follow the signs for 'Centro' or 'City Center.' Continue straight until you reach Praça de Gonçalo Velho. The Portas da Cidade are located at the center of this square, easy to spot as they are a prominent historical landmark.
Public Transportation
To reach Portas da Cidade using public transportation, find a bus that goes to Ponta Delgada. The main bus station in Ponta Delgada is located near the city center. Once you arrive at the bus station, walk towards Avenida Infante Dom Henrique, then take a left onto Rua de Lisboa. Continue straight until you reach Praça de Gonçalo Velho. The Portas da Cidade are located in the square, and you will see them as you approach.
