If you're traveling by car, start by heading to the town of Vila das Furnas, which is a central location on São Miguel Island. From Vila das Furnas, take the EN1-1A road heading west. After about 15 minutes, look for the sign indicating the turnoff to Salto do Cagarrão, which will lead you onto a narrower road. Follow this road for approximately 5 km until you reach the designated parking area near the viewpoint. The drive takes roughly 30 minutes in total.

For those using public transportation, take a bus from Ponta Delgada to Vila das Furnas. The bus service is operated by 'Transporte de Passageiros' and the journey takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive in Vila das Furnas, you can either walk or take a taxi to Salto do Cagarrão. If you choose to walk, follow the EN1-1A road towards the west for about 4 km, then follow the signs to Salto do Cagarrão. The total travel time from Ponta Delgada to Salto do Cagarrão will be around 1.5 to 2 hours, including waiting times for the bus.
