Car
If you are driving, set your GPS to 'Paço das Escolas, 3000-004 Coimbra'. From Beira Litoral, take the A1 highway toward Coimbra. Once you approach Coimbra, follow signs for 'Centro' and 'Universidade de Coimbra'. You will find parking options nearby, but be aware that parking may incur a fee, typically around €1-2 per hour. After parking, it's a short walk to the Academic Prison.
Public Transportation - Train
To reach the Academic Prison via train, head to your nearest train station and take a train to Coimbra-B station. Train tickets cost around €5-10 depending on the departure point. Upon arrival at Coimbra-B, transfer to a local bus or take a 20-minute walk to the city center. If you choose the bus, catch the 'Cidade' line that directs you to 'Praça da República'. From there, it's a 10-minute walk to Paço das Escolas.
Public Transportation - Bus
If you're taking a bus, find your nearest long-distance bus terminal and take a bus to Coimbra. Ticket prices vary, typically between €5-15. The bus will drop you off at the central bus station. From there, take the local bus number 34 or 35 toward 'Universidade' and get off at the 'Praça da República' stop. The Academic Prison is a short 10-minute walk from there, following signs to Paço das Escolas.
