Bus

To reach Óbidos from Caldas da Rainha, head to the Caldas da Rainha bus station, which is located near the city center. Look for the bus company 'Rodoviária do Tejo' that operates routes to Óbidos. The ticket costs around €2-€3 and the journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Buses usually leave every 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Óbidos bus station, follow the signs towards the historic center, which is about a 15-minute walk. You will see the castle walls as you approach the town.

Train and Bus

While there is no direct train to Óbidos, you can take a train from Caldas da Rainha to the nearest train station, which is in Torres Vedras. From the Caldas da Rainha train station, board a train heading towards Lisbon and get off at Torres Vedras. The train journey takes about 20 minutes. From Torres Vedras, you can take a bus to Óbidos. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as the bus frequency may vary. Once you arrive in Óbidos, walk towards the historic center.

Walking and Bus

If you're feeling adventurous and enjoy walking, you can take a bus from Caldas da Rainha to the nearby village of Óbidos. The walk from Caldas da Rainha to Óbidos is approximately 8 km and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Start from the city center, head northwest towards the N8 road, and follow the signs to Óbidos. Once you reach the outskirts of Óbidos, you’ll see the castle walls which will guide you into the town.
