Afonso de Albuquerque: A Cultural Landmark in Lisbon

Getting There

• Train

  From Cascais train station, board the train heading to Cais do Sodré in Lisbon. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes. Once you arrive at Cais do Sodré station, exit the station and follow the signs to the Metro. Take the Metro, Line Verde (Green Line) towards Campo de Ourique. Get off at the next stop, Baixa-Chiado. From there, walk towards Rua do Ouro, then proceed to Praça do Comércio. Continue walking along the waterfront until you reach Praça Afonso de Albuquerque.

• Bus

  From Cascais, catch the bus number 403 from the main bus terminal (Centro de Interpretação Ambiental) to Lisbon. The bus ride takes about 45 minutes. Once you arrive at the Lisbon bus terminal, walk towards Praça do Comércio. From there, continue along the waterfront to reach Praça Afonso de Albuquerque.

• Walking

  If you're near the Cascais Marina, you can enjoy a scenic walk to Lisbon. From the marina, head east along the shoreline path towards the Cais do Sodré ferry terminal. This will take about 1.5 hours. Once you reach Cais do Sodré, follow the signs towards Praça do Comércio, then continue walking along the waterfront until you get to Praça Afonso de Albuquerque.

• Bicycle

  You can rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Cascais. Cycle along the coastal path towards Lisbon. This ride takes around 1 hour. When you reach Cais do Sodré, park your bicycle and walk towards Praça do Comércio. From there, proceed along the waterfront until you arrive at Praça Afonso de Albuquerque.
