Beautiful Day in Coimbra
Our adult family of four had such a fun time visiting Coimbra! Our tour guide was Carlos, who we also had for a previous tour the day before, which was a wonderful surprise. He was extremely punctual, a great driver, and always on top of the schedule for the entire day. This provided us plenty of time to visit the stunning and beautiful Biblioteca Joanina, explore the campus of the University of Coimbra. Carlos provided excellent background information and history regarding Coimbra. This gave us much needed context to the history of the area and sights we saw. He also led us through the Monastery of the Holy Cross. The final stop was Conímbriga, which I was unfamiliar with, but Carlos guided us and explained through the entire Roman ruins, some of which was remarkably well-preserved. I had not expected so much tile art to have survived! Overall, the day did not feel rushed, and I felt we saw plenty of the highlights, leading to such an enjoyable tour with a friendly guide.
