Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the town of Peso da Régua, which is a central point in the Douro Valley. Take the N-222 road towards Pinhão. Continue on the N-222 for approximately 15 kilometers until you reach the town of Pinhão. From there, follow the signs for Mazouco. Drive along the N-323 towards Mazouco, which is approximately 10 kilometers away. Once you arrive in Mazouco, look for signs leading to the Colado Viewpoint. There is limited parking available near the viewpoint, so make sure to arrive early to secure a spot.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, start by taking a train from Porto to Peso da Régua. The train journey takes about 2 hours. Once you arrive in Peso da Régua, you can take a local bus towards Pinhão. The bus ride is approximately 30 minutes. Upon reaching Pinhão, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to Mazouco, as public transport options are limited in this area. The taxi ride will take around 15-20 minutes and may cost approximately €15-€20. Make sure to confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey.
Walking
For the adventurous, if you're in the nearby town of Mazouco, you can walk to the Colado Viewpoint. It's about a 20-minute walk from the town center. Head north on the main road out of Mazouco, and follow the signs for the viewpoint. The path is scenic, providing beautiful views of the Douro Valley. Just be aware of your footing as some areas may be uneven.
