Travel Guide to Xerez Megalithic Enclosure

Getting There

• Bus

  From Évora city center, walk to the main bus station, Terminal Rodoviário de Évora, located at Rua de Cândido dos Reis. Once there, purchase a ticket for the bus heading to Mourão. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Upon arrival in Mourão, get off at the main bus stop. From the bus stop, head northeast on Avenida da Liberdade, then turn right onto Rua da Liberdade. Continue straight until you reach the junction with Rua das Flores. Turn left, and then take the first right onto FJ3H+9H. Follow this road for about 1 kilometer, and you will reach the Xerez Megalithic Enclosure.

• Walking

  If you prefer a longer walk, you can head east from the city center towards the countryside. Start by walking down Rua de Cândido dos Reis towards the Universidade de Évora. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout and take the second exit onto N114 towards Mourão. The distance is around 20 kilometers, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water. This route will take you through scenic landscapes, and you can enjoy the natural beauty of the Alentejo region on your way to the Xerez Megalithic Enclosure.

• Bicycle

  For those who enjoy cycling, renting a bicycle in Évora is a great option. Start from the city center and follow the bike paths towards Mourão. Head towards the N114 road, which is bike-friendly. The journey is about 20 kilometers and will take you through beautiful rural areas. Once you reach Mourão, follow Avenue da Liberdade, turn onto Rua da Liberdade, then left onto Rua das Flores, and finally take a right onto FJ3H+9H to reach the Xerez Megalithic Enclosure.
