Ervideira represents over 130 years of Portuguese winemaking tradition, currently managed by the fourth and fifth generations of the Leal da Costa family. Since 1880, the winery has maintained a steadfast commitment to creating unique and exclusive wines that honor the land, sun, and vineyard heritage passed down through generations. The estate's philosophy combines tradition with innovation, guided by core values including history, pleasure, quality, distinction, emotion, gastronomy, trust, terroir, and sustainability.

The Wine Lounge Experience

The Ervideira Wine Lounge serves as the centerpiece of the winery's modern wine tourism offerings. This contemporary space features the largest reception capacity at the estate and accommodates both intimate gatherings and larger groups. Visitors begin their experience with a guided tour through the production process, gaining behind-the-scenes insight into how Ervideira wines are crafted. The tour encompasses the cellar, barrel rooms, and bottling facilities, providing a comprehensive understanding of the winemaking journey from vineyard to bottle.

Curated Tasting Experiences

Ervideira offers multiple tailored tasting experiences designed to suit different preferences and interests. The Conde D'Ervideira Premium Tasting pairs wines with traditional Alentejo colors and flavors, while the Wines & Flavours experience delivers a similar concept with customizable selections. The Vinha D'Ervideira Experience combines a wine tour with personalized tastings and traditional product degustation. For those seeking interactive engagement, the Winemaker for a Day program invites guests to create their own wine blend, and the Blind Taste Challenge tests instincts with a competitive tasting component. All tastings include regional products such as traditional bread, artisanal cheeses, selected black pork cured meats, traditional jams, and Alentejo toasts with olive oil and oregano.

Vineyard and Terroir

The winery cultivates 117 hectares of vineyards distributed across family properties in Vidigueira (Monte da Ribeira) and Reguengos de Monsaraz (Herdadinha and Vendinha). This diverse terroir allows Ervideira to produce wines with distinctive character and complexity. The landscape surrounding the winery offers some of the most beautiful vistas in Alentejo, particularly from the Wine Shop Monsaraz location situated in the medieval village overlooking the Alqueva lake region.

Picnic and Outdoor Experiences

The Pic Nic Ervideira experience combines wine tasting with outdoor dining in scenic vineyard settings. Guests receive a prepared basket containing bread, traditional cheese, selected black pork sausage, traditional jam, chicken and spinach pies, fresh fruit, dry sweet cookies, water, juice for children, and wine. The winery recommends multiple picnic locations, including a balcony overlooking the vineyards and a scenic spot approximately one kilometer from the Wine Lounge with panoramic landscape views. This experience is available at scheduled times and requires prior booking.

Accessibility and Amenities

Ervideira operates daily from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM and welcomes groups ranging from one to fifty persons depending on the experience selected. The facility includes parking, a wine shop, and specialized guides fluent in English. The winery maintains a welcoming atmosphere with staff described as knowledgeable, passionate, and attentive to guest preferences. All experiences require advance booking and confirmation of availability.
