To get to Culatra Island from Faro, head to the Faro Marina, which is approximately a 15-minute walk from the city center. From the Praça da República, walk towards the marina, passing the Igreja do Carmo on your left. Once you reach the marina, look for the ticket office where you can buy a ticket for the ferry to Culatra Island. Ferries run regularly, so check the schedule, but generally, they operate every 30 minutes. Board the ferry, and enjoy the scenic ride, which takes about 30 minutes to reach the island.
Walking
If you prefer a more scenic route before boarding the ferry, take a stroll along the waterfront from the city center. Start at the Praça da República and walk south towards the marina, enjoying the views of the Ria Formosa Natural Park. This route will take you about 20-25 minutes at a leisurely pace, allowing you to take in the beauty of the area before catching your ferry.
Public Transport
If you want to combine public transport with your trip to Culatra Island, take a bus from the main bus station in Faro to the ferry terminal. Buses are available from the bus station, which is about a 10-minute walk from the city center. Look for bus number 14 or 16, which will drop you off close to the marina. From there, you can easily walk to the ferry ticket office to board your ferry to Culatra Island.
