Walking
From the center of Guimarães, head towards the Praça de São Tiago. From there, take the Avenida Dom João IV heading northwest. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout at the end of the avenue. Take the second exit onto Estrada Nacional 101 (EN101). Follow this road, and you will eventually see signs leading you to the Caniçada Dam (Rio Cávado). The walk is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes.

From the Guimarães bus station (Terminal Rodoviário de Guimarães), take a bus towards Braga. Make sure to ask the driver for the stop closest to the Caniçada Dam or Rio Cávado. The journey will take about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at the stop, follow the signs or ask locals for directions to the dam, which is nearby.
