Walking
From the center of Guimarães, head towards the Guimarães train station (Estação de Guimarães). Walk straight along Av. de Dom Afonso Henriques until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Av. da Liberdade. Continue walking straight until you reach the historical center. Follow the signs to the bus station, as it is a well-known landmark. Once you reach the bus station, you can catch a bus to Porto. The buses run frequently, and the journey takes about 1 hour.
Bus
After arriving at the Guimarães train station, go to the nearby bus terminal (Terminal Rodoviário de Guimarães). Look for the bus service to Porto, which should be marked with clear signs. Purchase a ticket at the kiosk or from the driver. Once on the bus, enjoy the scenic ride to Porto. The bus will drop you off at Campo 24 de Agosto in Porto. From there, walk towards Av. dos Aliados, which is about a 15-minute walk. You will see the beautiful fountains and buildings along the way.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from anywhere in Guimarães to Porto. Just find a taxi stand or call a local taxi service. Mention 'Fonte dos Aliados' in Porto as your destination. The journey will take approximately 45 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. Taxis can be found easily around the historical center or at the train station.
Train
Although this option involves a bit of walking, you can take a train from Guimarães to Porto. Head to the Guimarães train station (Estação de Guimarães) and buy a ticket for Porto (Estação de São Bento is a common arrival point). The train ride takes about 30 to 40 minutes. Once you arrive at São Bento station, exit and head towards Avenida dos Aliados by walking straight through the city center. The walk will take about 15 to 20 minutes.
