Getting There

• Walking

  From the historic center of Guimarães, head towards the main square, Praça de São Tiago. Once there, look for the signs directing you to the train station, Estação de Guimarães. Walk straight on Rua de São Paulo until you reach the train station, which is about a 15-minute walk. Take a train to Porto. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Porto, exit the train station and follow the signs for the Metro. You need to take Metro Line D (the yellow line) towards Santo Ovidio. Get off at the 'Casa da Música' station. From there, it’s about a 10-minute walk to Largo Santa Catarina. Head southeast on Avenida da Boavista, then take a right onto Rua de Gonçalo Cristóvão. Continue straight until you reach Largo Santa Catarina.

• Bus

  From the center of Guimarães, walk to the bus terminal at Avenida Dom João IV, which is about a 10-minute walk. Board the bus heading towards Porto. The bus ride will take around 45 minutes. Once you arrive at the bus station in Porto, exit and navigate to the Metro station located nearby. Take Metro Line D (the yellow line) towards Santo Ovidio. Get off at 'Casa da Música' station. From there, it’s a 10-minute walk to Largo Santa Catarina. Head southeast on Avenida da Boavista, then take a right onto Rua de Gonçalo Cristóvão. Continue straight until you reach Largo Santa Catarina.

  If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from Guimarães to Largo Santa Catarina in Porto. You can find taxis near the main square or call one through a local taxi service.
