    Getting There

    Walking

    If you are in the center of Guimarães, head towards the Largo da Oliveira, which is a prominent square with a beautiful church. From there, walk straight along Rua de Santo António, following the signs towards the historical area. Continue until you reach the Praça de Santiago, where you will see the impressive Church of São Miguel do Castelo. From Praça de Santiago, head towards the main road, Avenida de Dom João IV. Turn left on this avenue and walk straight for about 10 minutes until you reach the Guimarães train station. From the train station, you can catch a train to Porto.

    Public Transport (Train)

    Once you are at the Guimarães train station, purchase a ticket to Porto. Trains run frequently, so check the schedule on the electronic boards inside the station. The journey to Porto takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the São Bento train station in Porto, exit the station and head towards the city center. You can follow the signs towards the Avenida dos Aliados, which will lead you to the Praça da Liberdade.

    Public Transport (Bus)

    From Guimarães city center, you can also take a bus to Porto. Find the bus terminal located near the city hall at Praça de São Tiago. Look for the 'Transdev' buses heading to Porto. The journey will take approximately 40 minutes. Once you arrive in Porto, make your way to the Praça da Liberdade by walking through the streets, following the signs towards the city center.
