Walking
Start your journey at the Lamego Cathedral (Sé de Lamego), which is located in the center of the city. From the cathedral, head west on Rua da Sé towards the main square (Praça José Alves Ferreira). Continue straight until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Rua da Liberdade. Follow this road as it winds slightly uphill. After approximately 800 meters, turn left onto the N-225 road, also known as Rua de São João. Follow this road for about 1.5 kilometers. You will see signs for Mosteiro de São João de Tarouca along the way. The monastery is located on the left side of the road; you will find a small entrance leading to the monastery grounds.

Begin at the central bus station in Lamego (Terminal Rodoviário de Lamego). Check the schedule for a bus heading towards Tarouca. Once you arrive at the Tarouca bus stop, exit the bus and head back towards the main road.
