Metro and Bus
From central Lisbon, head to the Cais do Sodré Metro station (Green Line). Take the metro towards Telheiras and get off at the last stop, which is the Baixa-Chiado station. Once you exit the station, walk to the bus terminal right outside. Look for the bus number 153 or 154, which will take you directly to Costa da Caparica. The ride lasts about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive, follow the signs to Praia da Mata, which is a short walk from the bus stop.
Train and Bus
Make your way to the Cais do Sodré train station. Take the train to the station called 'Praia das Maçãs' (make sure to check the schedule as trains may not be frequent). After arriving at the station, exit and look for the bus stop where you can catch bus number 161 towards Costa da Caparica. It should take approximately 20 minutes to reach Costa da Caparica. Once there, follow the signs to Praia da Mata, which is a short walk from the bus stop.
Tram and Walking
From the center of Lisbon, take tram number 28 from Praça Martim Moniz or the nearby stop. Ride the tram until you reach the stop at 'Praça do Comércio'. From there, walk to the Cais do Sodré train station and board the train towards Cascais. Get off at the 'Cascais' train station and switch to bus number 161 heading to Costa da Caparica. After about 20 minutes on the bus, you will arrive at Costa da Caparica. Follow the signs to Praia da Mata.
Walking and Bus
If you are feeling adventurous, you can also walk to the nearest train or metro station and enjoy the sights of Lisbon. Once at a metro station, take the Green Line to Baixa-Chiado. After exiting, walk to the bus terminal and catch bus number 153 or 154 to Costa da Caparica. This option will take longer, but you can explore more of the city along the way.
