If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Funchal. Take the VR1 highway towards the west for about 15 km. Follow the signs for 'Curral das Freiras' and take the exit onto ER103. Continue on ER103 for approximately 10 km, enjoying the scenic views along the way. Once you reach Curral das Freiras, look for signs directing you to Ribeira do Cidrão. There is a parking area available nearby. Please note that parking may incur a fee, usually around €2-€3 for a few hours.
Public Transportation
To reach Ribeira do Cidrão using public transport, you can take the bus from Funchal. Look for the 'Rodoeste' bus terminal and catch the bus number 81, which goes directly to Curral das Freiras. The bus ride takes about 30-40 minutes and costs approximately €2. After arriving in Curral das Freiras, it's about a 15-minute walk to Ribeira do Cidrão. Follow the signs towards the river, and enjoy the local scenery along the way.

If you are already in Curral das Freiras and prefer walking, you can access Ribeira do Cidrão by following the path towards the river. Start from the main square in Curral das Freiras and head downhill. The walk is about 1.5 km and should take around 20-30 minutes. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, as the terrain can be uneven in some areas.
