Getting There

• Train

  To reach Largo da Oliveira in Guimarães from Porto, start by making your way to São Bento Train Station in central Porto. From there, purchase a ticket to Guimarães at the ticket counter or using the ticket machines. Once you have your ticket, board a train heading to Guimarães. The journey should take about 1 hour. Upon arrival at Guimarães station, exit the station and walk straight ahead. Continue walking straight until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Rua da Liberdade. Follow this road until you reach Largo da Oliveira, which will be on your right. Look for the historic buildings and the olive tree that the square is named after.

• Bus

  From Porto, you can also take a bus to Guimarães. Head to the Campo 24 de Agosto Bus Station. Look for the bus company 'Transdev' that operates services to Guimarães. Purchase your ticket at the counter or on the bus. The bus journey takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Once you arrive at Guimarães bus station, exit and head towards the city center. Walk along Avenida de São Gonçalo, which leads you directly to Largo da Oliveira. You’ll pass through some lovely streets and shops along the way.

• Metro and Bus

  First, take the Porto Metro from any nearby station to the Trindade station. From Trindade, take the Metro Line D (Yellow Line) towards Hospital de São João. Get off at the last stop, which is the 'Estádio do Dragão' station. From here, exit and walk to the bus terminal located nearby. Catch the bus number 34 or 36 that heads to Guimarães. The bus ride will take about an hour. Once in Guimarães, get off at the 'Estação de Guimarães' bus stop. From there, walk straight to Largo da Oliveira, which is a short 10-minute walk.
