Getting There

  • Bus

    To reach the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sameiro from central Porto, begin at the São Bento train station. From there, walk to the nearby bus stop called 'São Bento' and take the bus number 34 towards 'São Vicente'. The bus will take you to Braga in approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive at Braga, get off at the 'Braga' stop. From the bus stop, walk to the nearby 'Catedral de Braga' and continue along Avenida da Liberdade. Follow the signs directing you towards 'Sameiro'. The sanctuary is about a 30-minute walk uphill from the cathedral, and you will see the sanctuary's impressive structure as you approach.

  • Train + Bus

    Start your journey at São Bento train station in Porto. Board a train heading to Braga; trains run frequently and take about 1 hour. Once you arrive at Braga train station, exit and find the bus stop located just outside. Take bus number 99 towards 'Sameiro'. The bus ride will take approximately 15 minutes. Get off at the 'Sameiro' stop, and from there it's a short walk to the entrance of the sanctuary. Follow the signs that lead you to the sanctuary, which is located about 5 minutes away from the bus stop.

  • Walking

    If you are already in Braga, you can walk to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sameiro. Start from the central square (Praça da República) and head towards Avenida da Liberdade. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout, and take the first exit onto Avenida Nossa Sra. do Sameiro. Follow this road uphill for about 2 kilometers. The sanctuary will be on your left. It’s a beautiful walk, but be prepared for some steep sections as you get closer to the sanctuary.
