From Manteigas, take the N232 road towards the direction of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park. Continue on this road for approximately 10 km. You will see signs directing you towards Cântaro Magro. The road may become narrower as you approach the base of the mountain. Look for parking areas near the trailhead.
