Getting There

Car
If you're driving from the center of Sintra, head south on the N247 towards Queluz. Continue on this road for about 12 km until you reach the A16 motorway entrance. Merge onto the A16 towards Lisbon. After approximately 20 km, take the exit for the A2 towards Lisbon. Continue on the A2, passing through the tollgate, and merge onto the A1 towards Lisbon. Take the exit towards Av. da Liberdade and follow the signs for Avenida da Liberdade. Continue straight until you reach Rua do Alviela. The Museu da Água will be on your left at Rua do Alviela 12.

Public Transportation
Start at the Sintra train station and take a train to Lisbon (Cascais line). The journey will take about 40 minutes. Once you arrive at Lisbon's Rossio station, exit and walk to the metro station 'Rossio'. Take the metro on the Green Line (Linha Verde) towards Cais do Sodré. Get off at the 'Alameda' station and transfer to the Red Line (Linha Vermelha) towards Aeroporto. Get off at 'Cividade' station. From there, it will be a 15-minute walk to Rua do Alviela. Head east on Rua da Alegria, then turn left onto Avenida Almirante Reis. Continue straight until you reach Rua do Alviela. The museum will be on your right.
