Bus
From Setúbal, head to the Setúbal Bus Station (Terminal Rodoviário de Setúbal), which is located near the city center. You can walk there from Praça do Brasil in about 10 minutes. Once at the bus station, purchase a ticket for the bus heading to Costa da Caparica. The buses run regularly, typically every 30 minutes. After approximately 40 minutes, you will arrive at Costa da Caparica. The bus will drop you off near the town center. From the bus stop, walk towards the beach following the signs. Praia da Mata is one of the main beaches in the area and should be easily accessible.
Train and Bus
Start by walking to the Setúbal train station (Estação de Setúbal), which is around 15 minutes from the city center. Take a train towards Lisbon and get off at the Pragal station. After exiting the train, follow the signs to the bus stop and take the bus heading to Costa da Caparica. The bus ride will take around 20 minutes. Once you arrive in Costa da Caparica, follow the signs to the beach. Praia da Mata is a popular destination and will be clearly marked.
Walking
If you prefer to walk and enjoy the scenery, you can take a scenic route from Setúbal to Costa da Caparica. Begin at the Setúbal waterfront (Cais do Sodré) and follow the coastal path towards the south. This route will take you through beautiful landscapes and takes approximately 2-3 hours of walking. Make sure to bring plenty of water and wear comfortable shoes. Once you reach Costa da Caparica, head towards Praia da Mata, which is located close to the town center.
