Train
From Sintra, head to the Sintra train station, which is located near the historic center. You can walk there from most hotels and attractions in Sintra. Once at the station, purchase a ticket to Carcavelos. Trains to Carcavelos typically run every 20-30 minutes. Board the train heading towards Cascais. After approximately 30 minutes, you will arrive at Carcavelos station. Upon disembarking, follow the signs leading to the exit. From the station, Carcavelos beach is about a 15-minute walk straight down Rua da Liberdade. Follow this road as it turns into Avenida Marginal, and you will find the beach.
Bus
At the Sintra bus terminal, located near the train station, look for the bus line that goes to Cascais. You can ask for help at the information desk if needed. Purchase your ticket and board the bus. The journey to Carcavelos takes about 40-50 minutes. Get off at the stop labeled 'Carcavelos.' From there, you can walk towards the beach, which is less than a 10-minute stroll down Avenida da Liberdade.
