Exploring the Maritime Heritage at Museu de Marinha

Getting There

• Train

  To reach the Museu de Marinha from Sintra, start by walking to Sintra train station. You can find the station near the town center. Once at the station, purchase a ticket to Lisbon (Cascais Line). Board a train heading to Cais do Sodré. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes. Once you arrive at Cais do Sodré station, follow the signs to the metro station and take the Green Line towards Cais do Sodré. Get off at the next station, Baixa-Chiado. From Baixa-Chiado, exit the metro and walk to the nearby bus stop. Take bus number 728 towards 'Praça do Comércio'. After about 20 minutes, get off at 'Mosteiro dos Jerónimos' stop. The Museu de Marinha is just a short walk from there.

• Bus

  To get to Museu de Marinha via bus from Sintra, head to the Sintra bus terminal. Look for the bus line number 403 that goes to 'Lisboa'. This bus will take you directly to Lisbon, and the journey will take approximately 50 minutes. Once you reach the Lisbon bus terminal, you can walk to the nearest metro station, which is 'Campo Pequeno'. From there, take the metro to 'Alameda' station and switch to the red line towards 'Aeroporto'. Disembark at 'Oriente' and transfer to bus number 728. Ride this bus until you reach 'Mosteiro dos Jerónimos' stop. The Museu de Marinha will be within walking distance from there.

• Walking and Public Transport

  If you prefer walking, you can start from the Sintra town center and head towards the Sintra train station. From there, take a train to Rossio station in Lisbon. The journey will take around 30 minutes. Upon arrival, walk to the nearby bus stop and board bus number 728. This bus will take you directly to the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos stop, which is close to the Museu de Marinha. The museum is about a 5-minute walk from the bus stop.
