Getting There

Walking

If you are starting from the Sintra train station, exit the station and head towards the main road, Avenida Dr. Miguel Bombarda. Turn right and walk straight for about 15 minutes until you reach the large square, Praça da República. You will see the beautiful gardens and fountains in this lively square.
Bus

From the Sintra train station, you can take the local bus number 434, which will take you directly to the Sintra town center. After about a 10-minute ride, get off at the Praça da República stop. From there, you can easily walk around and enjoy the square.

If you are at the National Palace of Sintra, exit the palace grounds and walk towards the main street. Turn left onto Rua da Rainha and continue straight until you reach Praça da República, which will be on your right. It's a pleasant stroll of about 10 minutes.
