Bus
From Sintra, head to the Sintra railway station. Once there, purchase a ticket for the bus to Costa da Caparica. The bus stop is located just outside the station. Board the bus that heads towards Costa da Caparica and enjoy the scenic ride. The journey will take around 30-40 minutes. Get off at the stop labeled 'Praia da Mata'. From there, it’s just a short walk to the beach.
Train and Bus
First, walk to the Sintra train station and take the train to Lisbon (Rossio station). After arriving at Rossio, follow the signs to the Metro and take the Green Line towards Cais do Sodré. At Cais do Sodré, switch to the train to Cascais, but instead, get off at the 'Praia de Carcavelos' station. From there, take the local bus to Costa da Caparica. Get off at the stop for 'Praia da Mata'. The total journey may take about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on connections.
Walking
If you're feeling adventurous and are staying nearby, you can walk towards Costa da Caparica. Start from the center of Sintra and head towards the coastline, which is approximately 14 kilometers away. Follow the signs leading to the coast, making sure to take a scenic route through the beautiful countryside. This walk can take several hours, so be prepared with water and snacks.
