Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from the center of Tomar, head towards the main square, Praça da República. From the square, take Rua da Liberdade heading northeast. Continue straight until you reach the end of the street, where it will intersect with Avenida João XXI. Turn left onto Avenida João XXI and continue walking for about 1 km. You will see signs directing you to Batalha Monastery. After approximately 15 minutes of walking, you will arrive at Largo Infante Dom Henrique, where the monastery is located.

Bus
From Tomar, you can take a bus to Batalha. Head to the Tomar Bus Station, located near the main square. Look for buses heading to Batalha; they are operated by Rede Expressos or local services. The bus ride typically takes around 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Batalha bus station, exit the station and walk straight until you reach the main road, then turn left. Continue walking for about 10 minutes, and you will see Batalha Monastery at Largo Infante Dom Henrique on your right.

If you prefer to cycle, rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Tomar. Start at the Tomar town center and head towards Avenida João XXI. Follow this road northeast, and it will lead you out of Tomar. The route is approximately 7 km and should take about 25 minutes. As you approach Batalha, follow the signs to the monastery, which will be on your right at Largo Infante Dom Henrique.
