Getting There

• Bus

  From Viana do Castelo, walk to the Viana do Castelo Bus Station (Terminal Rodoviário de Viana do Castelo), which is located at Avenida de S. Sebastião. Take the bus towards Esposende, which typically departs every 30 minutes. The journey lasts approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Esposende Bus Station, exit the station and head southwest on Avenida da Liberdade. Continue onto Avenida Engenheiro Eduardo Arantes e Oliveira for about 500 meters until you reach the Esposende Maritime Museum at Estação de Socorros a Náufragos.

• Train and Bus

  Begin your journey at Viana do Castelo train station (Estação de Viana do Castelo). Take a train towards Braga and get off at the Esposende train station. From there, you will need to take a local bus or taxi to reach the Esposende Maritime Museum. The local bus service is available, but it’s advisable to check the schedule in advance as it may not run frequently. The museum is located at Estação de Socorros a Náufragos, Avenida Engenheiro Eduardo Arantes e Oliveira, which is approximately 1.5 kilometers from the train station.

  If you are feeling adventurous, you can walk from Viana do Castelo to Esposende. The distance is around 10 kilometers and will take approximately 2 hours on foot. Start by heading north along the N13 road, following the signs towards Esposende. Ensure to stay on the designated walking paths and be cautious of traffic.
