Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from the Viana do Castelo train station, exit the station and head southeast on Avenida de Cabo Verde. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Rua de São Sebastião. Follow this road until you reach Praça da República, where you will see the beautiful fountain. From Praça da República, head northwest on Rua de 31 de Janeiro, which will lead you directly to Praça General Barbosa. The square is situated at approximately 4900-347 Viana do Castelo, surrounded by local shops and cafes.

• Walking

  If you are at the Viana do Castelo city center (near the main shopping streets), make your way to Praça da República. From there, take Rua de 31 de Janeiro towards the west. The walk will take you through the local market atmosphere. As you walk, keep an eye out for the signs directing you to Praça General Barbosa. The square is just a few minutes away and will be on your left side.

• Public Transport

  If you would like to use public transport, find the nearest bus stop that services routes towards the city center. Board any bus heading to the Viana do Castelo city center. Once you arrive at the central bus station, exit and walk towards Praça da República. From there, follow the previously described walking route to Praça General Barbosa. Alternatively, you can ask the bus driver for directions to Praça General Barbosa while on the bus.
