From Vila Real, walk to the bus station located at Rua de Cândido dos Reis. Take the bus to Guimarães, which usually takes around 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Guimarães bus station, exit the station and head east on Rua Dr. José Sampaio until you reach the roundabout. From the roundabout, take the first exit onto Avenida Dom João IV and continue walking straight. After approximately 800 meters, you will reach R. Conde Dom Henrique where Guimarães Castle is located.

Head to the Vila Real train station, which is about a 15-minute walk from the city center. Take a train towards Guimarães. The journey takes about 45 minutes. Once you arrive at Guimarães train station, walk east on Avenida de São Gonçalo and turn left onto Rua de Santo António. Continue until you reach the intersection with R. Conde Dom Henrique. Guimarães Castle will be on your right.
