From the center of Vila Real, walk to the main bus station, located at Avenida do Brasil. Look for the bus to 'Alvão' or 'Afonsim', which usually departs every hour. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the stop nearest to Lagoa do Alvão, disembark and follow the signs towards the park. It’s about a 10-15 minute walk from the bus stop to the Lagoa do Alvão.

Walking
If you prefer to walk, from the central Praça da República in Vila Real, head north on Rua de Camões towards Avenida de Cernache. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout, then take the first exit onto Avenida do Brasil. Walk for about 20 minutes until you reach the bus station. From there, take the bus as described above. If you are feeling adventurous and the weather is nice, the walk to Lagoa do Alvão can be a scenic route of about 2 hours, but be prepared for a physically demanding trek.

Bicycle
For those who enjoy cycling, you can rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Vila Real. Head north from the city center via Rua de Camões, then follow the road signs leading to Afonsim. The route is approximately 12 kilometers and will take around 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on your cycling speed. Be sure to wear a helmet and follow road safety rules as you travel.
