If you are at the main plaza of Cabo Rojo (Plaza de Recreo), start by heading southwest on Calle José de Diego. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with PR-100. Cross the street carefully and continue straight on Calle Candelario Ortiz. Follow this road until you see signs for Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre de Cabo Rojo. The refuge is about a 30-minute walk from the plaza, and you will be enjoying beautiful scenery along the way.

From the center of Cabo Rojo, rent a bicycle at one of the local rental shops. Start your ride heading southwest towards Calle José de Diego. Turn right onto PR-100 and then left onto Calle Candelario Ortiz. You will find dedicated bike lanes along some sections. The refuge is approximately 3 miles from the center, and the ride should take about 20 minutes. Ensure you wear a helmet and stay safe on the road.
