Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Cabo Rojo, head southwest on Calle Lajas toward Avenida Pedro Albizu Campos. Continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with PR-100. Cross over to the other side of the road and continue on Avenida Pedro Albizu Campos until you reach the end of the road. At the intersection, turn left onto PR-102. Follow PR-102 for about 1.5 miles until you reach the entrance to the Cabo Rojo National Wildlife Refuge. Enter the refuge and follow the signs directing you to the beach area. After a short hike through the trails, you will arrive at Puente de Piedra Beach.

  • Biking

    If you have access to a bike, start from the main plaza in Cabo Rojo and ride south on Calle Lajas towards Avenida Pedro Albizu Campos. Continue straight until you reach PR-100. Turn left onto PR-100 and follow it for about a mile. Turn left onto PR-102 and bike for approximately 1.5 miles until you see signs for the Cabo Rojo National Wildlife Refuge. Enter the refuge and follow the cycling paths that lead to Puente de Piedra Beach.

  • Public Transportation

    From the main plaza in Cabo Rojo, you can take a local guagua (public minibus) that heads towards PR-102. Make sure to ask the driver to drop you off at the entrance to Cabo Rojo National Wildlife Refuge. Once you arrive, you will need to walk approximately 1 mile through the trails in the refuge to reach Puente de Piedra Beach. Enjoy the scenery along the way!
