Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are in the town center of Cabo Rojo, start by heading towards Calle José de Diego. Walk down this street until you reach the intersection with Avenida Pedro Albizu Campos. Turn left onto Avenida Pedro Albizu Campos and continue straight. You will pass several local shops and restaurants along the way. After about 15 minutes, you will reach the intersection with Route 100. Cross over to the other side of Route 100 and continue walking straight until you see signs for Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre de Cabo Rojo on your left, approximately 1 mile ahead. Follow the signs into the refuge.

  • Public Transport

    From the center of Cabo Rojo, head to the nearest bus stop on Avenida Pedro Albizu Campos. Take the local bus that heads towards the town of Boquerón. Inform the bus driver that you want to get off at the stop for Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre de Cabo Rojo. The bus ride will take approximately 20-25 minutes. Once you get off the bus, walk back a short distance to the entrance of the refuge, which will be clearly marked.
