Getting there

Car

If you are traveling by car, start from the main town of Dewey. Take Route 251 south until you reach the intersection with PR-252. Turn left onto PR-252. Continue on PR-252 for approximately 4 miles, enjoying the scenic views. You will see signs for Playa Melones. Look for a parking area on the right side of the road just before you reach the beach entrance.

Public Transportation

For those using public transportation, head to the main bus terminal in Dewey where you can catch a local taxi or 'collectivo' (shared taxi). Inform the driver that you want to go to Playa Melones. The fare is usually around $3-$5 per person, depending on the number of passengers. The drive will take approximately 15-20 minutes. The driver will drop you off near the beach entrance, and from there, it's just a short walk to the sand.

Walking from nearby locations

If you are already at a nearby location like Playa Sardinas, you can walk to Playa Melones. Head north on PR-252 for about 1 mile. The walk is quite pleasant and takes around 20-25 minutes. Just keep following the road signs for Playa Melones, and you will find the beach on your right. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, especially on hot days.
