Walking
If you are in Old San Juan, head to the main square, Plaza de Armas. From Plaza de Armas, walk towards Calle San Francisco and continue until you reach Calle de la Fortaleza. Turn left onto Calle de la Fortaleza and walk straight until you reach the intersection with Calle Tetuán. Turn right on Calle Tetuán, and walk until you reach the waterfront area. Continue walking along the waterfront until you see the iconic walls of the fortress. Follow the path along the walls, and you will arrive at Puerta de San Juan.
