Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the town of Ponce. Take PR-10 north towards Jayuya. Continue on PR-10 for about 20 miles until you reach the junction with PR-143. Take the exit to PR-143 and follow it for approximately 8 miles. You will see signs directing you to Cerro de Punta. As you approach, be prepared for some winding roads. The final stretch will lead you to the parking area near the peak.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Ponce to Jayuya. The bus terminal in Ponce offers services to various towns. Once you arrive in Jayuya, you can hire a taxi or use a local ride-sharing service to reach Cerro de Punta. Be sure to confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey. Keep in mind that public transportation schedules may vary, so plan accordingly.
Hiking/Walking
If you are already in Jayuya and prefer a more adventurous route, you can hike to Cerro de Punta. Start from the center of Jayuya and follow the marked trails leading to the peak. The hike is challenging but offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking gear and carry water with you. It usually takes around 2-3 hours to reach the summit, depending on your pace.
