If you are driving, first ensure you are within Yunque National Forest. From the main entrance of the forest, follow Route 191 until you reach the El Yunque Visitor Center. From there, continue on Route 191 for about 3.5 miles, and then turn left onto Route 988. Drive for about 1.5 miles until you reach the parking area near the trailhead for Charco El Pilón. Be aware that parking may have a small fee, so have some cash ready.

If you are using public transportation, take the bus that operates from San Juan to the Yunque National Forest area. Once you arrive at the entrance of Yunque National Forest, you will need to walk or take a taxi to the El Yunque Visitor Center.
