Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving, start from the main entrance of Arcadia Management Area located at 10 Arcadia Road, Hope, RI. Head southeast on Arcadia Road for about 1.5 miles. Turn left onto Route 102 (North Road) and continue for approximately 1.8 miles. Then turn right onto Old North Road, and follow it for about 1 mile. You will see signs for Arcadia Barrens. The parking area is located on your left, directly off Old North Road.

  • Public Transportation + Walking

    If you are using public transportation, take a bus to the nearest stop on Route 102. You may need to check the current schedule for the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) for the most accurate routes. Once you arrive at the Route 102 stop, you will need to walk approximately 1 mile south on Route 102 until you reach Old North Road. Turn left onto Old North Road, and you will find the entrance to Arcadia Barrens about 0.5 miles ahead. Please note, public transportation may require multiple transfers, so check the schedules in advance.

  • Bicycle

    For those who prefer cycling, you can access Arcadia Barrens via the many trails in the Arcadia Management Area. If you are in the central area of Arcadia Management Area, follow the marked bike trails leading towards Old North Road. It’s approximately a 3-mile ride along scenic routes. Ensure you have a proper map or GPS as some trails can be less visible. Bring your own bike, as rentals are not available in the area.
