Car
If you're driving, start on US Route 1 South. From Newport, take the scenic Route 138 West to reach Route 1. Follow Route 1 South for approximately 15 miles. Take the exit for RI-102 N toward Exeter. Continue on RI-102 N for about 5 miles. Turn left onto RI-3 W and follow for about 2 miles. You will see signs for Queen's Fort. Look for a small parking area nearby where you can leave your car.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take the RIPTA bus number 60 from Newport to the Wickford Junction Station. Make sure to check the bus schedule for the latest timings. Once at Wickford Junction, you will need to take a local taxi or rideshare service to reach Queen's Fort, as it is approximately 7 miles away. Expect to pay around $15-20 for the taxi ride.
Walking
If you are already in Exeter and prefer to walk, Queen's Fort is located on a rocky hilltop. From Main Street in Exeter, head north on RI-102 N for about 1.5 miles. Then take a left onto RI-3 W and continue walking until you see the entrance to the fort. Please note that the terrain may be uneven, and it's advisable to wear good walking shoes.
