If you are traveling by car, start from downtown Providence. Head north on I-95 N. Continue on I-95 N for about 9 miles. Take exit 24 for I-295 N toward Worcester. After about 5 miles, take exit 6 for RI-44 toward Smithfield. Merge onto RI-44 W (Putnam Pike). Continue on RI-44 W for approximately 3 miles. Turn left onto Stillwater Rd, and after about 0.5 miles, you will find the Smith-Appleby House on your right at 220 Stillwater Rd, Smithfield, RI 02917. There is free parking available on-site.

For those using public transportation, take a Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) bus from downtown Providence. Look for Bus 1 (Broad St) or Bus 57 (Lincoln) which will take you towards the Smithfield area. You will need to transfer to Bus 54 at the Kennedy Plaza bus terminal to get closer to Smithfield. After about a 45-minute ride, disembark at the stop nearest to Stillwater Rd. From there, it is about a 15-minute walk to the Smith-Appleby House.
