Getting There

• Walking

  From Federal Hill, head east on Atwells Avenue. As you walk, you will pass various shops and restaurants, giving you a taste of the local culture. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with South Main Street. Turn left onto South Main Street and walk north until you reach the intersection with Benefit Street. At this point, turn right onto Benefit Street. The Old State House will be located on your left at 150 Benefit Street. The entire walk should take approximately 20-25 minutes.

• Public Transit - Bus

  If you prefer to take public transportation, you can catch the RIPTA bus number 1 or 11 from Federal Hill. Locate the nearest bus stop on Atwells Avenue and board the bus heading towards Providence. One-way fare is $2.00, and you can pay with cash or a RIPTA card. Ride the bus until you reach the stop at South Main Street and Benefit Street. From there, the Old State House is just a short walk (approximately 5 minutes) to your right on Benefit Street at 150 Benefit Street.

• Biking

  If you have access to a bike, you can ride from Federal Hill to the Old State House. Start by cycling east on Atwells Avenue, then turn left onto South Main Street. Continue north until you reach Benefit Street, where you will turn right. The Old State House will be on your left at 150 Benefit Street. There are bike racks available nearby for you to park your bike. The bike ride should take around 10-15 minutes, depending on your speed.
