    If you are driving from anywhere in South County, take Route 1 North towards Newport. Continue on Route 1 for about 15 miles until you reach the exit for Route 138 East towards Newport. After about 3 miles, merge onto the Newport Bridge (toll bridge, approximately $4.00 for cars). Once across the bridge, continue on Route 138 until it becomes Farewell Street. Turn left onto Thames Street, and the Southern Thames Historic District will be on your right at 282 Thames St.

    To reach Southern Thames Historic District using public transportation, take the RIPTA bus number 60 from South County. The bus will take you directly to Newport. Get off at the stop at Broadway and Union Street. From there, walk about 0.5 miles down Broadway and take a right onto Thames Street. Continue walking for approximately 0.2 miles, and you will arrive at the Southern Thames Historic District at 282 Thames St. Please note that the bus fare is $2.00 and exact change is required.
