Sexy and Bucharesti Most Definitely!

I did this tour with Stefan and while I was the only one on the tour this day, I had an awesomely great time! There's a lot of interesting and sexy history for sure in Bucharesti and Stefan does not miss a beat. From Terente, to the Kings - Ferdinand, Philip, and Carol along with Ceaușescu, the Vampire of Bucharest and all the interesting buildings, statues, and stories inbetween - Stefan's tour was full of excellent information. The drink stops were great for a lil side chatting including his extensive knowledge of food and drink in the region. It was a great 3+ hours of learning. This is the tour you want to take over the rest especially if you're looking to learn some sexy and dark things about Bucharest but also if you're looking to gain local history knowledge and hear stories with some plum alcohol, hazelnut, a beer and/or an elderflower drink!

Guided Walking Tour of Historical Bucharest

An Extensive Tour Offered by a Knowledgeable Guide

Although we encountered a little difficulty initially in connecting with our guide, Alina, at the designated meeting spot, this was the result of about 3 different walking tours meeting at the same place at the same time. Once we found Alina, we were pleased to learn that my wife and I were the only persons touring in her group. Alina's knowledge of Romanian history was extensive and she shared that with us throughout the numerous sights she brought us to throughout the course of the tour. We were pleased to have the opportunity to view the inside of a number of old taverns and restaurants, which had been restored, along with some "off the beaten track" buildings and malls. Alina shared with us her strongly-held perspectives on both the Communist era and the monarchist era in Romania, and we appreciated the viewpoint she offered which was much different than what we had previously understood. While the tour was scheduled for three hours, Alina kept us entranced for at least a further hour. She is clearly proud of her city and demonstrated that by taking us to sites beyond the usual "tourist stops" and providing us with in-depth information about the history and development of each of those sites and the role they have played in the status of Bucharest today. This was truly a wonderful tour. The only recommendation I would have is to try and keep us oriented by relating a current site to the location of one we had previously recently seen. As newcomers to the city, the wandering streets and alleyways could sometimes prove a little confusing. It would also have been helpful to finish at the same spot that we began the tour, as we found ourselves a little confused as we endeavoured to find our way to the bus that went by our hotel.
