Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, start your journey from the nearest town, Râmnicu Vâlcea. Head southeast on DN7 towards Călimănești, then take the exit towards DN67C. Follow DN67C, which will take you through beautiful landscapes. After approximately 30 km, turn left onto DJ703A towards Cheia. Continue on this road until you reach Strada Fața Dealului 4, which is the location of Cheia. There is no parking fee in the area, but please ensure you park in designated spots.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Cheia using public transportation, take a train from Bucharest to Râmnicu Vâlcea (approximately 2.5 hours). From Râmnicu Vâlcea, you can catch a local bus or minibus to Cheia. Be sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as they may vary throughout the week. The bus ride will take about 1 hour and will drop you off near Strada Fața Dealului 4. The bus fare is approximately 10 RON.

  • Walking

    If you find yourself already within Buila-Vânturarița National Park and wish to walk to Cheia, you can start from the nearest hiking trail. Follow marked trails that lead southeast towards Cheia. The walk is approximately 8 km and will take around 2-3 hours, depending on your pace. Ensure you are adequately prepared with water and snacks, as there are limited facilities along the trails.
