If you are traveling by car, start from Târgu Jiu, the capital of Gorj County. Head south on DN67 towards Polovragi. The drive takes approximately 40 minutes (around 34 km). Once you reach the village of Polovragi, follow the signs to Peștera Ascunsă. The cave is located about 2 km from the village center. You may have to park your car in a designated area near the entrance and walk the remaining distance.
Public Transportation
To reach Peștera Ascunsă by public transportation, take a bus from Târgu Jiu to Polovragi. Buses leave frequently from the Târgu Jiu bus station, and the journey takes around 50 minutes. Once you arrive in Polovragi, you can either walk or take a taxi to reach the cave, which is approximately 2 km away. Make sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time, as the frequency may vary.
Walking
If you are already in Polovragi, and have arrived by car or bus, you can walk to Peștera Ascunsă. From the village center, head east towards the forested area, following the signs to the cave. The walk takes about 30 minutes and offers beautiful views of the surrounding nature.
